Southbourne Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1986. In the early years it had a small membership, but over the years the club has expanded massively, especially in the Young Life Savers section.
Southbourne Surf as it is commonly referred to, is the home of group of volunteer beach life savers who are building a healthier & safer community. Our members come together and give their time freely, where they learn Lifesaving skills and compete in Life Saving Sport events.
Southbourne Surf is affiliated to Surf Life Saving GB which is the awarding body for the highest standard of Beach Lifeguard Qualification in the country, and is the National Governing Body for Life Saving Sport. There are more than 80 Surf Life Saving Clubs and 5,000 individuals who are affiliated to SLSGB, with more joining every year.
