Bournemouth Seafront Strategy - Improving the Seafront

Bournemouth is the UK’s Premier Coastal Resort, known for its 7 ½ miles of golden sands and outstanding natural beauty. The towns multi-award winning Blue Flag beaches are the primary reason for 71% of visits to Bournemouth. The councils vision is to ensure that they are unlocking the potential of Bournemouth’s seafront with a new range of leisure attractions.
There is a plan for the seafront area around Boscombe to become the UK’s first Coastal Activity Park, the focus for this area is on developing the provision of facilities for a range of water and beach based activities and sports. A vibrant, fun and colourful place to visit and hang out - whatever the time of year.”

Improving The Seafront
Bournemouth Borough Council Seafront Strategy
Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment, said: “These vital works are taking place not only to protect the coastline from future coastal erosion but also to maintain the award winning beaches which attracts millions of visitors and residents to the coast each year. The works also complement the Council’s Seafront Strategy – a long-term plan to develop a world class seafront.”
The aim of the ambitous plan is to create 4 distinct and different zones along the seafront, each with their own unique identity.
